MTG Final Fantasy Full Debut Date Announced

Share

MagicCon Preview Panels are some of the most exciting events of the year for MTG fans. Tons of incredible cards, art, and more are shown off for future releases. Even with releases often being months away, players don’t hesitate to start speculating about brewing with what they’ve seen.

The star of the show was undeniably Tarkir: Dragonstorm. The set had a bunch of new cards shown that look incredibly powerful for a Standard set. There’s even a new Mox card, which is absolutely wild given their history.

The rest of the show included some things we’ve already seen before, a ton of art, and a new date that Final Fantasy fans will want to hold onto.

Final Fantasy Full Debute Date

We had the MTG X Final Fantasy First Look this past Tuesday, just a few days before MagicCon: Chicago. There weren’t any cards to show that we haven’t already seen, but fans now know when to expect the full debut to appear.

The show will kick off at PAX East on May 10th. This is about a month before the official release of the MTG X Final Fantasy crossover, which is pretty standard for spoiler seasons.

While the ‘Full Debut’ may suggest that the entire set will be revealed in one sitting, we doubt that this is the case. This is likely the beginning of the set’s spoiler season. Cards will then be shown off to players for about a week to two-week period following this debut.

Until then, players can enjoy all the new Tarkir: Dragonstorm cards that they revealed at the event.

MTG Edge of Eternities

Edge of Eternities got a bit of a First Look at MagicCon Chicago, but no new cards or mechanics were revealed. Only artwork and product packaging appeared at the event. Fortunately, there is a bit of info we can squeeze from what we’ve seen

This looks like a typical Standard release for recent MTG sets. Two Commander decks, Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Prerelease Packs, and Bundles will be included as part of the release. For a while, four Commander decks were the standard for most MTG releases, but in-universe Standard sets have been releasing two Commander decks for quite some time now.

For better or worse, the art for Edge of Eternities doesn’t actually reveal all too much. There’s only one really familiar face that we’ve seen so far, Tezzeret, and we already knew about him. That being said, we can see some reimagined creatures through the guise of Magic’s space set.

The artwork for this set looks absolutely spectacular but, sadly, it doesn’t tell us much about how the set’s gameplay. Some players may be disappointed, but this set really does look out of this world.

That Concludes the Preview Panel for MagicCon: Chicago

Between this, the MTG X Avatar: The Last Airbender Crossover Revealed, and Tarkir: Dragonstorm spoilers, everything that was revealed at MagicCon: Chicago can be found here. Tarkir: Dragonstorm was easily the highlight for many considering that it was the only set where we got to see some never-seen-before game pieces.

While it feels like this preview panel paled in comparison to past ones, every announcement outside of the Edge of Eternities information was hard-hitting. Lots of exciting things are in the woodwork for MTG players in 2025.
