Arclight Phoenix is back on the Modern menu! Key cards in the deck are spiking in price right now!
Article at a Glance

Two weeks ago, I wrote an article, Can Izzet Phoenix Rise from the Ashes with Innistrad: Midnight Hunt? I talked about how I thought Consider could resurrect Izzet Phoenix in the Modern metagame, and that Arclight Phoenix was a “must pick-up” before Innistrad: Midnight Hunt.

This week, competitive Twitch streamer, and one of the top Magic: the Gathering Online players, Aspiring Spike, showcased a new Jeskai Phoenix Deck in Modern:

In one of the several videos he published this week, Spike said, “This is the best Consider deck. Consider is going to be stronger in this deck than it is in control. Even in Reanimator [decks], this is going to be the best Consider deck.” If you’re interested in this deck, I’d recommend watching some of Spike’s gameplay, which I’ve included a link to below:

Why play Jeskai Phoenix and not the classic Izzet deck?

Wizards of the Coast

The last time Arclight Phoenix was really competitive in Modern was when it had access to Faithless Looting (before it was banned). The powerful, one-mana looting spell was originally printed in the original Innistrad block. Well, in Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, we are getting a callback to Looting in the form of Faithful Mending. Alongside Consider, these two Midnight Hunt cards are giving Arclight Phoenix new wings.

Price Alerts

With the rising popularity of Arclight Phoenix decks, some key cards in the deck saw some significant price spikes this week.

Arclight Phoenix

Wizards of the Coast

This is the namesake card of the deck. It has seen some major price fluctuation throughout its history with highs as much as $30.00 before the Faithless Looting ban.

Before Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, Arclight Phoenix was about $8.00. It is currently $11.00-$15.00. Depending on how this deck settles into the metagame, it could rise further if it ends up being a top contender.

Demilich

Demilich also saw massive price spikes yesterday. It was roughly $8.00 before this Jeskai Phoenix craze. But seeing that it is now an integral inclusion in the deck, it more than doubled in price. At the time of writing, there are only 12 listings remaining on TCGPlayer with the lowest running for about $21.00! This card above all other cards in the Jeskai Phoenix deck has been selling out everywhere and fast.
